Dubai is the most populous city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It is located on the southeast coast of the Persian Gulf and is one of the seven emirates that make up the country. The Burj Khalifa is currently the tallest structure in the world and visually striking. Towering over this ultra-modern city, pictured above, it resembles a huge icicle bursting out of the desert sand. Some random facts about the building include boasting the world’s highest Mosque, the highest and fastest elevator and more floors than other structure with 160. Anybody can go to the observation deck at the top. It takes just over one minute to reach it in an elevator and trips go every 30 minutes between 8:30am and 11pm. Make sure that a tourist book before he/shego, ticket prices are only £15 if you book online before arriving as opposed to £60 at the door.
Dubbed ‘The world’s first 7-star hotel’, this iconic structure is arguably more famous and recognisable than its taller downtown rival the Khalifa. It is the fourth highest hotel in the world and is only linked to the mainland via one private bridge. Situated off the coast on a man-made island, it marked a signal of intent putting the city on the global stage and its helipad roof has hosted many PR-stunts from Tiger Woods hitting balls into the ocean to Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer playing tennis.
With such perfect weather almost all year round, Dubai has some of the best sport you will find anywhere.
